Complimentary Hotel Review: Encore Las Vegas

Published

on

Background:

In February, I booked a complimentary stay at the Wynn Las Vegas due to the Wynn Slots App game! Now, it’s a bit harder to get free rooms as you have to pay about $200 to be eligible in booking a complimentary room. Before, you didn’t have to pay at all, and to this day I’ve spent around $30 on the app. You can also get buffets from the app as well. For my February stay, I asked at check-in to be placed into Encore Las Vegas instead of the Wynn and they were nice enough to grant my request. I wanted to try the Encore Two Queen room, as Wynn only has Two Double Beds, which are smaller.

Disclaimer: I stayed at the property in February of this year before the COVID-19 situation worsened.

The Encore Las Vegas Two Queen Room:

The Encore Resort Two Queen Room is 745 square feet, which is 105 square feet larger than the rooms at Wynn. Wynn rooms are 640 square feet, I wrote a review of my Wynn stay earlier this week, which you can check out here.

The Two Queen Room, features two Queen sized beds, as well as a large sofa. There is a ton of space to relax. The room features Alexa from Amazon, which you can talk to in controlling lights, drapes, music. I wish you could use Alexa to control the TV but unfortunately that function isn’t available yet. A plus is there are plenty of charging ports in the room.

The bathroom features double sinks, and a separate shower and tub. There is also a TV in the bathroom as well.

The room felt a bit newer than the Wynn, but it was unfortunately much dirtier. I noticed some towels had marks on them, and I developed some rashes. I think I got them from the towels or the bedding. Additionally, when I went to wipe down the chair, desk and ottoman, my towel turned dark grey! Meaning, housekeeping did a bad job, or the room had been left empty for quite some time and dust accumulated.

Another thing to note, if you are facing the Strip view when the nightclub is operating, make sure to not get a low floor or your room will vibrate! We were decently high up on the 28th floor and could feel some light vibrations. If you’re sensitive to noise, get a higher floor or face Downtown Las Vegas instead.

Buffet at Wynn:

I was able to try the buffet during brunch on this stay using my app reward. The selection was great, from having an omelet station, to steak for brunch and sushi too! I’ve been to most of the buffets in Vegas (Bacchanal at Caesars, Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan, Buffet at Bellagio) and the Buffet at Wynn is one of my favorites now.

Currently (August 2020), the Buffet is open, with full tableside service during the COVID pandemic.

menities + Location:

Since rooms booked through the app doesn’t tag on the resort fee (normally $45), I didn’t have access to the fitness center at Encore, but I’ve heard good things. Also, there are plenty of pools on the property grounds too.

Self and valet parking at both Wynn and Encore are complimentary.

The property grounds are quite nice. Encore still has its own casino and restaurants apart from the Wynn, and it is smaller and more “boutique” like which I enjoy. A nice array of shops connects Encore back to the Wynn if you want a larger casino and other restaurants to try.

The Wynn/Encore complex is on the North end of the Las Vegas Strip connected by pedestrian bridge to the Palazzo/Venetian as well as the Fashion Show Mall. Some may not like the location as it is a bit further to the center strip, but I like the location as it’s easily accessible by car, and still walkable (or a quick Uber) to center strip.

The Verdict:

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness at Encore Las Vegas on my recent stay. But, I still love the room design and boutique feeling of the hotel. Hopefully my next stay will turn out better and this was a one off experience! I’ve enjoyed my stays at the Wynn and Encore, and they are among my favorite properties to stay in Vegas.

Wanting to help the Christmas community continue to earn income during what would normally be their busiest time of year, it is calling all Santas, elves and reindeer to submit their idea for an Online Experience idea. It will also be partnering with Santa Visits USA to offer even more ways to meet Santa Claus and the entire North Pole gang this year. These include Christmas magic with Kris Kingle himself, a holiday-themed bedtime pyjama party, a visit with head elf, Buzz Twinkletoes, and even a murder mystery show with Mrs Claus.

“According to a new report by the Fraternal Order of Real-Bearded Santas, nearly a third of their members surveyed will not be taking part in in-person visits this year,” says Airbnb. “As many of Santa Claus entertainers worldwide live on a fixed income and are reliant on their income from appearances during the holiday season, this new reality has created serious economic hardship for countless Santa performers.”

Guests can also enjoy Santa Claus around the world, with special experiences designed for families of all backgrounds, including people with disabilities. These include a “Virtual Visit and Story Time with Santa,” “Mama Claus Holiday Joy,” “Sign Language Santa,” “Meet Santa Claus in Lapland” and “Santa Storytime” with an award-winning author. In addition, hosts are sharing their own holiday traditions from around the world so people can feel festive from home, such as “How to Throw a Holiday Dinner Party,” “Create recycled puppets for the holidays” and “Sing Holiday Songs with a Broadway Star.”

Airbnb will provide additional support to Santa Claus entertainers who are interested in becoming Online Experience hosts, helping them to make a seamless transition to virtual visits. Further information is available here, and you can read about the holiday experiences already available here.
